After attending many Highland Games
only to be served hot dogs and Polish sausage, one member of the
Scottish community decided to change that. Since the main object of the
Highland Games is to introduce visitors to Scottish culture, "it made
no sense to invite thousands of guests and feed them Polish sausage."
In 1997, Scotsfare
introduced a "Yankee Doodle" version of the old traditional Scottish
dish at the Kansas City Highland Games. They were an immediate hit.
Without describing the unusual ingredients of the original, let's just
say the new version is much more acceptable to the sensibilities of
both Scots and Americans.
The Haggis Pup is a
lean, pure pork sausage with the seasoning and spices that lend
authenticity to the flavor. It is made by a custom butcher into a link
that can be served on a bun: a Scottish sausage that's a great addition
to Scottish events.
The result is the Haggis Pup, served on a bun "just like that other sausage."
If you are concerned about the safety of mail order specialty
foods, rest assured that our custom butcher has fully cooked the pups
using a smoking process, then vacuum-packs them and freezes them. The
result is a fresh product that needs no ice to ship and can be refrozen
almost indefinetly.

In appearance and taste like the traditional haggis of auld Scotland, the Scotsfare Chieftain Haggis is about five pounds of more "Scottish flavor for American tastes." Developed for the North American market where many of the traditional ingredients of "traditional" haggis are not permitted for human consumption!
